Scientific Study Concludes "Neurofeedback provides clinical long term benefits in the treatment of chidren with ADHD"

A recent study published in the scientific journal European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by an international group of researchers conducted a meta-analysis that systematically looked at all available studies and found that after an intensive course of neurofeedback, the clinical benefit of neurofeedback on ADHD symptoms was maintained over a 6-month follow-up period (without treatment). At follow-up, the effects of neurofeedback were not inferior to active treatments such as medication, whereas benefits for non-active control groups (such as cognitive training) were no longer present at follow-up.

People With PTSD React Differently to Certain Sounds

Summary: In people with PTSD, the brain expresses an enhanced response to deviant tones, suggesting their brains over process any environmental changes. Additionally, researchers note, the more enhanced the response, the worse those with PTSD performed on cognitive and memory tests.

New Functions of the Hippocampus Unveiled

Summary: A new PNAS study reveals the hippocampus can promote brain wide functional connectivity in the cerebral cortex, and enhance sensory response. Researchers say the hippocampus should be considered to the the ‘heart of the brain’.

A research team led by Lam Woo Professor of Biomedical Engineering Ed X. Wu of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Hong Kong has made major breakthrough in unveiling the mysteries of the brain to reveal functions of an important region, hippocampus, not known to scientists before.

The findings have recently been published in the prestigious international academic journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) in August 2017.
