What to Expect During Your Visit
During your initial visit to Renew Neurotherapy, you will meet your therapist and participate in a conversation to identify your symptoms, concerns and therapy goals. Once your therapist has learned more about you, he or she will complete assessments pertinent to your symptoms and therapy goals.
Your therapist will review the results of the assessment and will suggest an therapy plan. At that time, you can decide if you would like to move ahead with the therapy plan.
At times, the assessments that your therapist administers require detailed review and analysis. In this situation, he or she will schedule a follow-up session to review results and discuss a therapy plan.
If you would like to receive a detailed report, please notify your clinician. Please be aware that there is an additional cost associated with this request.
Please note, if you are coordinating rehabilitation sessions for a minor, your therapist will require time to speak with both your child/the minor and yourself (parent/guardian) in order to ensure that needs are properly identified.
The initial in-clinic assessment typically requires 1.5 – 2.0 hours, and the follow-up session requires approximately 45 minutes.
During your brain mapping assessment, you will meet your therapist and participate in a conversation to identify your symptoms, concerns and therapy goals.
Processing and analysing a QEEG requires time outside of the session. Your therapist will schedule a follow-up session with you to review results and discuss a therapy plan.
The initial in-clinic assessment typically requires 1.5 – 2.0 hours, and the follow up session requires approximately 45 minutes.
Many clients benefit most from in-home sessions. Occupational therapists very frequently work in the home and community with clients as we believe that skills are best developed where they are used.
Initial home or community assessments may involve assessing the home for safety issues, prescribing adaptive equipment to help increase independence, identifying services that can help you improve your quality of life or continue to live at home, prescribing walkers or wheelchairs, and more. Many of our clients who struggle with PTSD or panic disorder benefit from guided and supported in-community exposure or relaxation therapies. Your occupational therapist can support you by completing an assessment of your needs and developing a therapy plan.
Assessments begin with a conversation to identify your symptoms, concerns and therapy goals. Based upon your presented concerns, the therapist will complete or administer appropriate assessments and make recommendations.
The initial in-home/community assessment typically requires approximately 2.0 hours.
During your neuromeditation assessment, you will meet your therapist and participate in a conversation to identify your symptoms, concerns and therapy goals.
Once your therapist has a clear understanding of your concerns and therapy goals, he or she will conduct a QEEG/Brain Map assessment.
Your therapist will administer the Neuromeditation Styles Inventory in order to further understand your brain function, strengths and areas of concern. This, in addition to the QEEG/Brain Map, will assist with making correlations to brain activity patterns. Your therapist may administer additional assessments in order to gain further clarity regarding your symptoms and needs.
Each meditation style has a different brain activation pattern. The unique benefit of neuromeditation is that it matches the meditation style to your brain activity to strengthen those areas that are most impacted by your symptoms or that will benefit most from a specific meditative practice.
The initial in-clinic assessment typically requires 1.5 – 2.0 hours, and the follow up session requires approximately 45 minutes.
