“Aging should not mean losing your connection to yourself or your independence. Our goal is to provide the tools that help you stay sharp, stay active, and stay you.”

Navigating the Changes of Aging

Aging brings a unique set of transitions that can leave you feeling overwhelmed or unlike yourself. Many seniors we work with in Ottawa, Pembroke, and North Bay describe feeling “stuck” in a cycle of frustration. Common pain points include:

  • Cognitive Fog and Memory Fears: Worrying about “senior moments” or losing the mental sharpness you have always relied on.

  • Loss of Independence: Struggling with daily routines that used to be easy, leading to a fear of becoming a burden to family.

  • Isolation and Life Transitions: Navigating the shift into retirement, the loss of peers, or changes in physical health that limit social life.

  • Persistent Anxiety or Low Mood: Finding that traditional “talk therapy” doesn’t quite address the physical exhaustion or the “fuzziness” in your brain.

Our Integrated Approach

At Renew Neurotherapy, we don’t just talk about the problem.

We provide the tools to navigate it and move forward.

Our integrated approach brings together psychotherapy, occupational therapy, and neurofeedback to support meaningful, lasting change; supporting both insight and function.

  • Psychotherapy

We provide a safe, non-judgmental space to process the emotional impact of aging. Whether you are navigating grief, a new diagnosis, or a shift in identity, our therapy helps you find new meaning and emotional resilience.

  • Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists focus on the practical side of staying independent. We help you modify your daily routines, manage fatigue, promote in-home safety, and use strategies to improve memory and organization so you can continue living confidently in your own home.

  • Neurofeedback Training

We use non-invasive, learning-based brain training regulate the nervous system, improve sleep quality, and address the biological roots of "brain fog" or anxiety. This helps to stabilize and sharpen your cognitive function and emotional health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all. The brain remains “plastic” throughout our entire lives. Our integrated approach, especially Neurofeedback, is designed to help support brain regulation and cognitive resilience regardless of your age.

Yes. Our services are non-invasive and drug-free. We often work alongside your existing healthcare team to provide a holistic layer of support that complements your medical treatments.

While psychotherapy focuses on your feelings, self-discovery, and history, Occupational Therapy focuses on “doing.” It is about the practical skills of daily life; how you manage your energy, your home, and your schedule to maintain your independence.  (Some Occupational Therapists are also trained to practice psychotherapy.)

Depending on your needs, Occupational Therapy sessions are often completed in the home.  Understanding the home environment can help therapists customize therapy plans to your specific needs.

We also offer in-person care at our clinics in Ottawa, Pembroke, and North Bay. For those with mobility, scheduling, or transportation challenges, we also provide comprehensive Virtual Therapy across Ontario so you can receive support from the comfort of your home.

Every journey is unique, and our goal is to give you “skills for life” that provide lasting benefits.

Some clients come to us for just a few sessions to help set up in-home safety strategies and routines, while others work with our interdisciplinary group on a longer term basis to explore mood, daily routine, or sleep issues.

Many seniors report feeling a shift in their sleep or anxiety levels within the first several weeks of consistent Neurofeedback and skill-building.
